What happens when an Australian spends their summer in the snow?
They see a lot of shit.
I shot this series when I had swapped my summer for a long winter, while living in the very beautiful (but very frozen) Montréal. I spent afternoons wandering the streets and taking off my gloves for split seconds to take photos of the little things I noticed. These things were peculiar and humorous to me, but totally common place to the people that had lived there all their lives.
Forgotten playgrounds, ski slope staircases, shark fin crested bike seats and things that without the snow would have otherwise soaked into grass or disappeared into cracks in the pavement (namely dog pee), were on show for all to see. The snow had provided a blank canvas for remnants of city life.
